Marc Wallman named VP for Information Technology at NDSU

NDSU Provost Beth Ingram has announced that Marc Wallman has been named vice president for information technology at NDSU. 

Wallman has more than 13 years of leadership experience in higher education information technology. Since February 2012, he has filled the role of vice president for information technology and chief information officer on an interim basis at NDSU. He also served as an assistant vice president for the enterprise computing and infrastructure, director of  infrastructure services, and as a senior system administrator, all at NDSU. Before joining NDSU, Wallman worked in the central information technology department at the University of California at Berkeley.

As vice president for information technology, Wallman will continue to lead the NDSU Information Technology Division in efforts to provide reliable systems and services and to encourage the adoption of innovative technologies that benefit research, teaching, learning and outreach.

Wallman will lead all operations of the IT Division to support the mission of North Dakota State University and other institutions within the North Dakota University System that are served by the division.

Wallman has been active in several regional and national professional organizations. He was recently elected to serve a one-year term as president of the Northern Tier Network Consortium, an organization that enables higher education institutions and research centers across the northern tier of the northwestern United States to connect to the national research and education network operated by Internet2. He also represents North Dakota on the consortium’s steering committee and participates in the Internet2 Network Architecture Policy and Operations Program Advisory Group.

Wallman holds a master’s degree in computer science from NDSU, a master’s degree in theology from Luther Seminary in St. Paul, Minn. and a bachelor’s degree in physics from Luther College in Decorah, Iowa.

NDSU is recognized as one of the nation's top 108 public and private universities by the Carnegie Commission on Higher Education.
