The 41st annual Harvest Bowl program at NDSU is scheduled for Nov. 21-22.

Highlights of the event include a Harvest Bowl dinner and awards program on Friday, Nov. 21, at the Fargo Ramada Plaza Suites and the Harvest Bowl football game between the Bison and Youngstown State University on Saturday, Nov 22.

As the state's land-grant university, NDSU plays a major role in contributing knowledge through research, academic programs and the Extension Service.

More than 2,600 agriculturists have been recognized and more than $221,000 in scholarships have been awarded to NDSU student athletes who have agricultural backgrounds or are majoring in a field of agriculture.

The NDSU Harvest Bowl program recognizes the success, dedication and hard work of outstanding agriculturists in 53 counties in North Dakota and several counties in Minnesota.

An agribusiness award recipient is chosen annually to recognize individuals who have distinguished themselves in the field of agriculture and business in North Dakota and beyond. Jerry Doan, a fourth-generation rancher and producer from McKenzie, North Dakota, is this year's recipient.

Doan was the first chair of the State Board of Agricultural Research and Education, which is just one of many important roles he has played in the state's agricultural industry. Along with serving on many boards and committees, Doan has been a 4-H leader for four decades.

Several scholarships also are awarded to outstanding male and female athletes during the Friday evening awards banquet.
