Student Success Programs at NDSU announced several staffing changes since the start of the academic year.

Cheryl Dunlop joined the Trio–Student Support Services staff as the reading and study skills instructor in August. Dunlop teaches classes and provides individualized instruction for Student Support Services participants.

In October, Angela Seewald-Marquardt changed roles in the department to become the Trio–Upward Bound project director. She is responsible for administering the federal Upward Bound grant; preparing income-eligible, first-generation high school students for college admission. Seewald-Marquardt has been with the department for four years, and was most recently the Learning Services/orientation coordinator.

Erika Beseler Thompson was named associate director of Student Success Programs in November. Formerly the assistant director for Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Prevention Programs, she continues to oversee prevention programs and has added management of Orientation, Family Programs and Welcome Week to her duties. She also assists with departmental assessment.

Three new staff members joined the department in December. Nick Redenius is the new Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Prevention coordinator. Redenius is responsible for coordinating the Live Real Mentor series, Before One More campaign and other program initiatives. He also coordinates the activities of the President’s Council on Alcohol and Other Drugs.

Sami Johnson is the New Student Programs coordinator. She has primary responsibility for Family Programs efforts and coordination of the Welcome Week schedule. Johnson also assists with all orientation activities.

Betsy Sand has taken over as Learning Services coordinator and is the primary contact for the Academic Collegiate Enhancement tutoring program, known as ACE. Sand is responsible for all tutor hiring, training and supervision at the program. She also is the primary liaison for collaborations with other academic support services and academic departments.
