Kara Gravley-Stack, director of diversity initiatives and interim director of the Office of Multicultural Programs, has been notified her dissertation, "Achieving Inclusive Excellence: The Role of Change Agents and Institutional Artifacts in Diversifying Institutions," received the Outstanding Dissertation Award for 2015 from the National Association of Diversity Officers in Higher Education.

The award recognizes a completed dissertation, either quantitative or qualitative, that has contributed substantially to the literature and to the field of diversity and inclusion in higher education. The honor includes a $500 monetary award and a plaque.

"It is truly an honor to receive this recognition for my research," said Gravley-Stack. "The work of creating campus environments that embody inclusive excellence is so critical, not only for our students, but also for faculty and staff. This work is also complex, as my research found, and requires a strong commitment from all constituency groups within the academy."

Gravley-Stack was invited by the association to attend an awards reception scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, in Washington, D.C. At that time, she will be formally recognized for her accomplishment.
