SHARE

Feminist blogger and writer Jessica Valenti is coming to NDSU to present " Why Feminism (Still) Matters: Sexism, Culture and Activism." The event is scheduled for Thursday, April 9, at 5:30 p.m. in the Memorial Union Great Room. The Women and Gender Studies program at NDSU is hosting Valenti's visit.

"We are grateful for the Laurie Loveland endowment that provides funding for well-known, contemporary women speakers to inspire students. Jessica Valenti will challenge students to think about issues of equality and oppression, and she will do so with humor and appeal to a college-aged audience," said Ann Burnett, professor and Women and Gender Studies program director.

Valenti is a columnist for Guardian US, and has written the books "Full, Frontal Feminism," "Why Have Kids?" and "The Purity Myth." She also is the editor of the award-winning anthology, "Yes Means Yes." In addition, she is the founder of Feministing.com, a website intended as a source for feminist news and ideas by and for young feminists.
