Dinesh Katti, professor and interim chair of civil engineering, is scheduled to cohost a webinar titled “Multiscale Mechanics of Biological, Biomedical and Biologically-Inspired Materials” on Wednesday, April 22, at 11 a.m. The webinar is presented by the Materials Research Society, which has more than 16,000 members in nearly 80 countries.

Katti also served as guest editor for the April issue of the society’s publication, Bulletin. The publication features technical information provided by experts in the field. The April issue focused on innovations in the field of engineering mechanics for modeling biological and bioinspired materials. Katti and Christian Hellmich, head of the Institute for Mechanics of Materials and Structures, Vienna University of Technology in Austria, introduced the issue by summarizing peer-reviewed papers, listing challenges in modeling biological materials and providing ideas to overcome them.
