NDSU transportation and logistics doctoral student Fesseha Gebremikael was an author of two papers recently presented at the 21st annual International Conference of Industry, Engineering and Management Systems. The conference was held in Coca Beach, Florida, March 22-25.
The first paper, "Risk and Uncertainty in Global Supply Chain Logistics: an Overview and Research Agenda," was written by Khalid Bachkar, Iddrisu Awudu and Gebremikael. The paper describes industry interviews that suggest the need to create a framework for industry standards within the field of innovation science and for innovation practitioners.
The second paper, "Risk Assessment for the Security of the Global Container Supply Chain: A Case Study," was written by Bachkar, Awudu, Gebremikael and Benjamin Target. They proposed a decision support model to examine sensitivity analysis of common risks that lead to problems and situations that negatively affect global container supply chain security.
Bachkar presented the papers, but all the authors attended the meeting. The conference emphasizes the integrative nature of business, management, computers and engineering in a global context. It provides a forum where engineering and management professionals can exchange ideas in a professional yet relaxed environment.
Bachkar and Awudu are graduates of NDSU's doctoral program in transportation and logistics. Bachkar is an assistant professor of maritime policy and management at the California Maritime Academy in Vallejo, California. Iwudu is an assistant professor of Management at Quinnipiac University in Hamden, Connecticut. Target is a student at the California Maritime Academy.
