Graduates reminded to pack 'digital suitcase'

SHARE

Spring 2015 graduates are reminded to pack their "digital suitcase" before they leave in May. Graduating students' information technology accounts are set to expire, so students should download and save files they want to keep.

NDSU student email accounts remain active for approximately 18 months after a student's last semester actively enrolled for credit at the university. Other information technology accounts are scheduled to be removed in early fall 2015.

To prepare for the closing of their accounts, graduating students should:

• Export files from their NDSU accounts, including files stored in Blackboard MyFiles, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive and their NDSU email account.

• Transition to a personal email account as their primary email account. Students should set up a personal email account with an address that reflects their professionalism, and then update resumes and other job application materials with their new email address and set up email forwarding to continue to receive messages sent to their @ndsu.edu address.

• Update contact information in Campus Connection, adding their personal email address as their preferred address to receive important messages after their NDSU email account expires.

• Remove institutional software from personal computers.

Instructions are available at www.ndsu.edu/its/digital-suitcase.
