Miller appointed to Fargo Planning Commission

John Miller, director of the NDSU Division of Fine Arts and professor of music, has been appointed to the Fargo Planning Commission. He will serve the term until 2011.


As a member of the commission, some of his duties include recommending amendments to the text of the Land Development Code, examining suggested changes to the city zoning map, serving as a final review authority for minor subdivision plot applications and honoring a development team with an annual Vision Award.


Miller came to NDSU in 1998. He is active in music’s national accrediting organization, the National Association of Schools of Music, and as an elected member of the Commission on Accreditation. He has served as president of the board of directors for the Fargo-Moorhead Symphony Orchestra, and vice president of the board of directors of the Fargo-Moorhead Opera.


His academic specialties include analysis of early music, counterpoint and pedagogical technology.
