The Memorial Union Gallery at NDSU is scheduled to open the exhibition “Land, Sky, Water” on Thursday, June 4. An opening reception is set for Tuesday, June 9, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The exhibition features recent work by Fargo-based artists Donna Kjonaas and Vicki Kessler. It is composed of contemporary fiber art responding to the three universal elements of fire, sky and water.

Kjonaas and Kessler manipulate reclaimed, repurposed and recycled fibers to create complex, layered and abstract landscapes. Embellishment with stitch, buttons, beads and other objects completes each composition.

NDSU is the final stop in the “Land, Sky, Water” exhibition’s statewide tour. It will be at NDSU until July 2. The project is supported in part by a grant from the North Dakota Council on the Arts, which receives funding from the state legislature and the National Endowment for the Arts.

The Memorial Union Gallery is located on the second floor of the NDSU Memorial Union, 1401 Administrative Ave. Visitor parking is available in the South Union lot. The gallery’s summer hours are Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m.
