SHARE

Lianne Lackey has joined the international student advising team in the Office of International Programs in the Division of Equity, Diversity, and Global Outreach. In addition to advising international students, she will coordinate programming events such as international student orientation, World iView Speaker’s Series, Friendship Family Program, International Week and a variety of international student activities.

Lackey is from Barre, Vt., and earned a bachelor’s degree in international relations from the University of Maine at Farmington and a master’s degree in higher education from the University of Maine. She spent several years overseas, first as a student studying Russian language and culture in Syktyvkar, Russia, followed by a year teaching English at a private school in Obninsk, Russia. Her work and studies also led her to spend several years in Scandinavia and Eastern Europe. Lackey’s interest in other cultures as well as her personal experience as an international student provided a natural desire to work with international students to help make their time abroad a positive, enriching experience.
