Germans from Russia Heritage Collection to be displayed at towns’ 125th celebrations

Acacia (Jonas) Stuckle, special collections associate at the NDSU Libraries' Germans from Russia Heritage Collection, will attend the Bowdle, S.D., 125th celebration June 24-25 and Michael M. Miller, the collection’s director and bibliographer, will attend the Rugby-Pierce County 125th celebration July 1-3.

The Germans from Russia Heritage Collection will have information tables and displays at the Bowdle Senior Center, 3037 Main St., during the event and Stuckle will be there Friday, June 24, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday, June 25, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Information tables and displays will be available at the Heart of America Library, 201 W. 3rd St. in Rugby, during the event and Miller will be there Friday, July 1, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; Saturday, July 2, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; and Sunday, July 3, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Since its inception in 1978, NDSU Libraries' Germans from Russia Heritage Collection has become one of the most comprehensive collections of German-Russian resources in the world. The collection has expanded its activities and projects to include audio oral history interviews, clothing and textiles, the Dakota Memories Oral History Project, heritage tours to Ukraine and Germany, online resources, outreach programs, photo archives, publications and translations.
