For the third straight year, NDSU distance runner Elliott Stone has been named to the Academic All-District 6 team for Division I men’s track and field and cross country. The College Sports Information Directors of America announced its selections on May 29.

Stone advances to the national ballot for CoSIDA Academic All-America honors, to be announced in late June. He was recognized as a first-team Academic All-American in each of the past two years.

Stone, who is from Bismarck, North Dakota, earned his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering with a 4.0 cumulative GPA. He now has a 4.0 pursuing a master’s degree in business administration. He ranks fourth in NDSU history in both the indoor 3,000-meter and outdoor 5,000-meter.

Stone also was named the 2018-19 Summit League Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year across all sports. An eight-time Summit League Academic All-League honoree, he is a member of the NDSU engineering and computer science team that has competed at NASA’s Robotic Mining Competition.

District 6 is comprised of student-athletes from Arkansas, Iowa, Louisiana, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, North Dakota, South Dakota, Wisconsin and Wyoming.
