Engineering associate professor elected for leadership position

Om Prakash Yadav, associate professor of industrial and manufacturing engineering, has been elected as president-elect of Quality Control and Reliability Engineering, a division of the Institute of Industrial Engineering. Yadav is elected for three years where he will act as president-elect for the current academic year (2011-12) followed by president (2012-13) and past president (2013-14) of the division.

The Quality Control and Reliability Engineering division is one of the fastest growing divisions of the Institute of Industrial Engineering and has membership around the world. Being part of the board, Yadav is expected to help organize the annual conference. He also is charged with conducting town hall meetings during the conference and managing the division’s research track. Other responsibilities as president-elect include to actively manage monthly conference calls and to organize various committee meetings and activities.

Additional major responsibilities include reviewing and selecting award papers for the Reliability and Maintainability Symposium, organizing the Industrial Engineering Research Conference track during the annual conference, reviewing papers and selecting the best papers for awards and promoting Quality Control and Reliability Engineering track activities.

Yadav says being elected to the position provides an excellent opportunity for him to demonstrate his leadership skills and enhance learning experience through interaction with other colleagues of the Quality Control and Reliability Engineering division and to represent NDSU at the Institute of Industrial Engineering.

Yadav also has been appointed as track chair of the Quality Control and Reliability Engineering division for Industrial and Systems Engineering Research Conference to be held during Annual Conference of Institute of Industrial Engineers May 19-23, 2012, in Hilton Bonnet Creek, Orlando, Fla. The Quality Control and Reliability Engineering division of the Institute of Industrial Engineers will sponsor the Quality Control and Reliability Engineering Track at the 2012 Industrial and Systems Engineering Research Conference, the new name for the Industrial Engineering Research Conference. As a track chair, Yadav is responsible to manage and organize research conference sessions of the QCRE division which includes getting abstracts and research papers reviewed, organize sessions, invite or assigned session chairs, and coordinating with other track chairs and Industrial and Systems Engineering Research Conference track chairs.
