Roger L. Gilbertson, M.D. is President and Chief Executive Officer of MeritCare Health System. MeritCare Health System includes MeritCare Hospital (583 beds), MeritCare Medical Group (360 multi-specialty physicians and 96 mid-level practitioners) and 36 clinics in North Dakota and Minnesota. Dr. Gilbertson has served as president/CEO of MeritCare Health System since its inception in July, 1993.

Dr. Gilbertson served his residency in radiology at the University of Minnesota and Minneapolis VA Hospital and is board certified in radiology and radiation oncology. He was a member of Fargo Clinic MeritCare from 1987-1992, serving on the Fargo Clinic Board of Directors from 1988-1992. He is a clinical faculty member of the University of North Dakota School of Medicine and Health Sciences. Dr. Gilbertson is a member of the Board of Directors of Community First Bank; Fargo Cass Country Economic Development, Board Member of Neuropsychiatric Research Institute, Board Member of Voluntary Hospitals of America Upper Midwest; Member of North Dakota Healthcare Association Board of Directors, and a member of Concordia College Board of Regents. He is Chair of Downtown Community Partnership Board, and Renaissance Zone Authority. Dr. Gilbertson is serving on the Metropolitan Section in Governing Council of the American Hospital Association.

Dr. Gilbertson is a graduate of Concordia College, Moorhead, MN and the University of Minnesota Medical School, Minneapolis, MN.
