John Helgeland: Ever since the first evidence of human activity was know through its cave drawings, humanity has been involved with communicating through the arts.  Painting, sculpture, drama, choreography, cinema, music, and literature have expressed people’s dreams and fears, its inward and outward understanding of the meaning of life itself.  While differing in form and medium our pursuit of the arts joins us with ancestors form all time.

Our panel concerns itself with continuing in this tradition.  How are our sons and daughters going to be introduced to the arts?  What are honest and dishonest forms of expression?  How should this community fund these endeavors?  What place should the arts take in the center of our city?  How do we care for the art that has been woven into the fabric of our architecture?  These, and other topics relating to art our panel endeavors to share with us.
