Lifton to Present at Polish Conference

Dr. Paul Lifton, associate professor with NDSU Theatre Arts, will present "Soaring to Hemakuta in Indra's Chariot: Reflections on an American University Production of Kalidasa's The Recognition of Sakuntala," which will showcase the 2006 Little Country Theatre production of the Sanskrit classic, at a conference titled "Indian Drama in the Culture of [the] Occident" in Lodz, Poland, March 17-19. Scholars and artists from throughout the world gathered for the conference which was organized to mark the 50th anniversary of the production of Sakuntala by the renowned Polish director Jerzy Grotowski. The conference was sponsored by the Department of Drama and Theatre at the University of Lodz and the TANDAVA Workshop for Research of Theatres of Orient.
