Wind Symphony Tour

The NDSU Wind Symphony, under the direction of Dr. Warren Olfert, will perform in several North Dakota towns during their fall 2013 tour, including Jamestown, Mandan, and Dickinson.
Pieces to be featured during this performance include American Salute by Morton Gould; O Magnum Mysterium by Morten Lauridsen; Concertino for Four Percussion and Wind Ensemble by David Gillingham; Prokofiev’s March, Op. 99; Color by Bob Margolis; and Firefly by Ryan George. School of Music senior and Mandan, N.D., native Amy Schaaf will be the featured soloist for the Brandt Concertpiece No. 2 for Trumpet.
The Wind Symphony has performed at the North Central Regional Conference of the College Band Directors National Association (2010), the North Dakota Music Educators Association Conference (2006, 2009 and 2012) and has been invited to perform at the Minnesota Music Educators Association Mid-Winter Clinic in 2014. The ensemble has engaged in the commissioning of new works for wind band, including composers Timothy Broege, Frank Ticheli, Jack Stamp, David Maslanka and Jocelyn Hagen. Performances have included internationally recognized performers, including Frank Battisti, Michael Haithcock, Craig Kirchhoff, Allan McMurray, Eugene Rousseau, Timothy Reynish, Frank Ticheli, Thomas Hooten and Daniel Gilbert.
All concerts are free and open to the public.
