Students Place in State Competition

The NDSU School of Music is pleased to announce the placement of several students during the recent North Dakota Music Teachers National Association (ND MTNA) state competition, held October 25-26 at Valley City State University in Valley City, ND.

Chamber Music Wind Competition

  • NDSU Brass Trio, first place
    • Amy Schaaf, trumpet, Mandan, ND
    • Erika Berger, horn, Mandan, ND
    • Neil Erickson, trombone, Rochester, MN
  • NDSU Woodwind Quintet, alternate
    • Zachery Pavelicek, clarinet, Dickinson, ND
    • Alyson Hubrig, flute, Hankinson, ND
    • Alex Blaser, oboe, Alexandria, MN
    • Devon Tucker, bassoon, Wadena, MN
    • Erika Berger, horn, Mandan, ND

Young Artist Performance Competition

  • Zachery Pavlicek, first place, Dickinson, ND
  • Greta Teigen, alternate, Nashotah, WI

Students prepare with private instructors for the competition, which is held every October at different university in North Dakota.  First place winners will now compete in the regional competition at Drake University in Des Moines, IA, January 10-12, 2014.  They will compete against students from Minnesota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Iowa, and Missouri.
