Koenig Presents at Thespian Festival
November 20, 2013
Hardy Koenig, Assistant Professor of Theatre Arts and Artistic Director for Theatre NDSU, recently presented a workshop at the 2013 Iowa Thespian Festival, November 15-16 at the University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls.
Titled “Status: How to Use Status in Character and Scene Work with Acting,” Koenig’s presentation explored the different power positions class status can give a character when building a scene and how it plays out on the stage. He also adjudicated the solo musical theatre competition and participated in the college scholarship auditions.
The Iowa Thespians Festival is an annual event held every November. Shows from colleges and high schools from across the state are presented and individual competitions are held in a number of categories, including solo musical theatre, group musical theatre, monologue, improv, and more.
Prior to his appointment at NDSU, Hardy taught at several universities and was the director of educational theatre services for the Southeastern Theatre Conference, where he coordinated all aspects of educational theatre including auditions, festivals, and scholarships. Last winter Koenig participated in the month-long Intensive Training Institute at Shakespeare and Co. in Lennox, MA.
