Moe, Weber, Guest Editors for Choral Journal
March 19, 2014
Dr. Charlette Moe and Dr. Michael Weber, members of the choral department of the North Dakota State University School of Music were named guest editors for the March 2014 issue of Choral Journal, the official publication of the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA), with a circulation of over 20,000 members in 43 countries.
The issue is devoted to publications stemming from the May 2013 Choral Music of the Americas Symposium, which was hosted by the NDSU School of Music and ACDA, and features symposium presenters José Rivera, Maria Guinand, Hilary Apfelstadt, and Jorge Cózatl. Each author/presenter explored the history and techniques of their culture’s choral music--Cuba, Venezuela, Canada and Mexico, respectively. All presentations from the symposium are included in the Choral Music of the Americas monograph, which was also edited by Moe, Weber, and Dr. Jo Ann Miller.
Weber is the Associate Director of Choral Activities for the NDSU School of Music. He conducts the Madrigal Singers, the Statesmen of NDSU, and teaches classes in choral conducting, choral literature and music education. He regularly conducts for organizations throughout the region and is a founder member of the Summer Performing Arts Company in Grand Forks, N.D. Weber is currently president of the North Central Division of the American Choral Directors Association.
Moe is the Assistant Director of Choral Activities for the NDSU School of Music and also serves as coordinator for the Masters of Music in Music Education degree. She teaches graduate and undergraduate courses and conducts Cantemus (the women’s choir) and the University Chamber Singers. She is currently presenting an academic paper regarding the symposium at the North Central American Choral Directors Association conference in Des Moines.
