Tescher Places at National Singing Competition

Anna Tescher, a sophomore vocal performance student at the North Dakota State University School of Music, recently placed second at the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) National Student Auditions. She was one of three vocalists competing at the lower college level for women.
A native of Dickinson, N.D., Tescher is active at the NDSU School of Music, participating in Concert Choir and Madrigal Dinners in addition to appearing in leading roles with the student opera. She studies vocal performance with Dr. Robert Jones. For the NATS Student Auditions, Tescher performed Winter by Dominick Argento, Lerchengesang by Johannes Brahms, and O’ had I Jubal’s Lyre, by G. F. Handel.
The NATS Student Auditions is an opportunity for the top performers in each region to compete against other vocalists from around the country. In order to compete at the final level, participants must pass the regional auditions and national online screening round. Fourteen singers from each category will advance to the semi-final round with only three singers from each category will competing at the final round. The national semi-final and final rounds took place during the NATS National Conference in Boston, M.A., July 6-7, 2014.
