Live+Learn
Your living environment directly affects your academic performance.
Amenities found in residence halls include coinless laundry, study lounges, computer clusters, cable TV, daily newspapers and Internet access. Students with cars may purchase permits for designated lots in close proximity to their assigned halls.
NDSU's three dining centers are connected to or near all the residence halls. Meal plan options include 10, 15 or 20 meals a week. Each dining center features at least two meal options, a salad bar and sandwich bar. Off-campus students also may purchase a meal plan.
The Department of Residence Life supports students by providing a vibrant, healthy place to live and learn. There are many options for you to consider. All freshman students are required to live on campus (exceptions reviewed on a case-by-case basis.)
Although there is no deadline to apply for housing for first-year students, hall assignment requests are honored on a first-come, first-served basis according to the date you return the contract with the $50 refundable room reservation fee. Roommate requests can be honored if your contract is received by January1.
The First-Year Experience (FYE) program in Weible and Reed-Johnson Halls is designed to provide support and opportunities for students to make a successful transition to NDSU. Students participate in academic and social activities conducted by Learning Teams consisting of resident assistants and faculty.
Students in engineering or architecture can live on designated floors in buildings that feature structured study groups and events with other students and faculty from the college.
pharmacy students can live in a designated residence hall community and participate in college-sponsored programs and events. The programs are tailored to support academic success and provide career information to pre-pharmacy students.
The Wellness Community is a living environment in which students and staff are focused on all dimensions of wellness. In addition, students in this community sign a pledge agreeing to remain substance-free (alcohol, illegal drugs and tobacco) both on and off campus.
To select one of these or other housing options, complete the Housing Contract included in the Undergraduate Application Packet or apply online at www.ndsu.edu/reslife. You may complete the housing contract at any time. (You do not need to be admitted to NDSU prior to applying for housing. All assignments are contingent upon final admission.)
Twenty-four hour visitation is allowed in all halls. Guests must be escorted 24 hours a day in all buildings. All residents are required to complete a roommate agreement during the first week of school. The roommate agreement must be completed in order for the 24-hour visitation policy to be in effect.
more information about housing options is available online at www.ndsu.edu/reslife.
