FIELD GEOLOGY
FALL SEMESTER, 2008

This Fall's field course will be held September 6th-12th

Stark County, North Dakota

NDSU

INTRODUCTION

Field Geology is the capstone course for the Geology program and requires knowledge gained in Geomorphology, Petrology, Sedimentology and Stratigraphy, and Structural Geology. Previous experience indicates that students who do not have a solid background in these topics are at a disadvantage and likely will not be able to complete the course. You are strongly advised not to take Field Geology unless you have completed several upper-level geology courses and are strongly motivated to finish the course. If you know that there is a strong possibility that you will be attending NDSU in the Fall semester of 2008, then I suggest you delay taking Field Geology until that time.

The purpose of the course is that you demonstrate that you are capable of integrating your knowledge to interpret the geology of the Little Badlands. At a practical level, it is a demonstration that you can conduct research and write an extensive report of the type required by companies and in graduate-level courses
