"Interaction between Charged Surfaces Mediated by Divalent Ions"

Dr. Klemen Bohinc
Faculty of Electrical Engineering
Laboratory of Physics
University of Ljubljana, Slovenia

In my talk, I will discuss the interaction between charged surfaces that are in contact with an electrolyte solution composed of divalent rod-like ions. The Poisson-Boltzmann theory will be applied for short divalent rod-like ions. It will be shown that attraction between like-charged surfaces above a critical distance between the two individual charges of the divalent ions is obtained. At the end, an outlook for possible extensions of the problem will be given.
