NDSU Geology 450 Field Geology
Fall Semester, 2022

INTRODUCTION
Field Geology is a capstone course for the Geology program and requires knowledge gained in Geomorphology, Petrology, Sedimentology and Stratigraphy, Structural Geology and GIS. Previous experience indicates that students who do not have a solid background in these topics are at a disadvantage and likely will not be able to complete the course. You are strongly advised not to take Field Geology unless you have completed several upper-level geology courses and are strongly motivated to finish the course. If you know that there is a strong possibility that you will be attending NDSU the next time Field Geology is offered, then I suggest you delay taking Field Geology until that time.
The purpose of the course is that you demonstrate you are capable of integrating your knowledge to interpret the geology of the Little Badlands. At a practical level, it is a demonstration that you can conduct research and write an extensive report of the type required by companies and in graduate-level courses.

This Fall's field course is scheduled for Sept 2 - Sept 8 (subject to change)
