Document Imaging at NDSU

SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS

NDSU has chosen ImageNow, by Perceptive Software, as its document imaging software solution. This software is comprised of three parts: software installed on the server, software installed on the user's computer, and capture software installed on computers connected to scanners.

HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS

Many participating offices at NDSU are using the Fujitsu fi-4340C scanner. However, this scanner model has been discontinued and is no longer available for purchase. The NDSU Bookstore does have two models of scanners available: the "high performance" Fujitsu fi-6240Z ($1849) and the "budget" Fujitsu fi-6230Z ($1299). Selection of which model is best suited for your office will depend on the amount of scanning your office will be doing. The "high performance" model would be recommended for offices with moderate-to-high volume scanning needs. The "budget" model may be more suitable for offices with low-to-moderate scanning needs. The Fujitsu brand was selected because the purchase price includes the Kofax VRS software which is required for use in tandem with the CaptureNow license. This software can be purchased separately if another brand of scanner is preferred.
