Val Ketter

Valrey V. Kettner was named Associate Vice President for Sponsored Programs Administration in September 2006. Kettner has been at NDSU since summer 2001, when she was hired as Assistant Vice President for Sponsored Programs Administration. She came to NDSU from Iowa State University, where she was Associate Director of the Sponsored Programs Office.

Originally from Mayville, North Dakota, Kettner earned her Bachelor's degree from Mayville State College in 1985 and then attended the University of North Dakota to receive her law degree in 1988. After working as an Associate Attorney for three years in Minneapolis, she moved to Iowa, where she served as Administrative Program Assistant and then Accountant with the Center for Family Research in Rural Mental Health at the ISU Research Park.

In October 1995, Kettner became Associate Director of the Office of Sponsored Programs Administration at ISU; then served as Interim Director from February 2000 to January 2001 and from May 2001 to July 2001. In this capacity, she was responsible for negotiating and executing contracts, grants, and other contractual agreements with external sponsors as well as reviewing and authorizing all sponsored funding proposals for the university.
