COS Pivot has been used by NDSU faculty, staff, and students for over a decade to conduct customized grant searches and receive email alerts about upcoming grants in their fields. COS Pivot also hosts a database of faculty profiles where one can search for experts in particular fields or from specific institutions. In 2008, COS (now Refworks COS) linked with Scholar Universe, which has grown to over 2 million expertise profiles and brings research and scholarship to one easily searchable database.
From any on-campus computer, a user can access Pivot at http://pivot.cos.com. Because NDSU's IP addresses will be recognized by Pivot, one can start searching for funding or faculty profiles right away.
Username and password access is necessary when a user is off-campus, or when a user wants to save a funding record or funding search. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire whether you already have an existing account before registering for a new one.
If you're sure you do not already have a username and password, you can create one. Creating a Pivot account is easy—go to http://pivot.cos.com and click the “Sign up” option in the upper right of the screen. Faculty, staff, and students can create a free Pivot account by indicating your affiliation with NDSU.
Training is available online at your own desktop. A Pivot YouTube channel can be accessed at http://youtube.com/proquestpivot. You can find both live and recorded webinars, as well as support guides and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ's) at http://pivot.cos.com/support.
