The Wellness Community is a living environment in which students and staff are focused on all dimensions of wellness. Students living in the community choose a balanced and healthy lifestyle and seek to enhance it by supporting each other in making healthy choices. Students are committed to remaining substance-free (alcohol, illegal drugs, and tobacco) both on and off campus. Community members and staff provide opportunities for mutual support and education in the seven dimensions of wellness (Physical, Emotional, Occupational, Spiritual, Intellectual, Social, and Environmental). The Wellness Community is a collaborative effort with the Wallman Wellness Center and is located on the eighth and ninth floors of Seim Hall.
One of the first experiences for the community is to attend an overnight retreat the first Friday-Saturday after classes start. During this time, students learn about each other and create shared goals for the community. Students who want to be part of the Wellness Community must complete a Wellness Community Agreement.
"Living in the Wellness Community my freshman year at NDSU has helped me succeed by eliminating distractions of drugs and alcohol, along with giving me so many great people to hang out with and won't create any peer pressure."
