Room Specifications

Your room includes:

    • Internet access
    • Telephone service
    • Basic cable TV service, 40+ channels
    • Window coverings
    • Wardrobe/dresser, desk and chair
    • Single bed - extra long 80" mattress
    • ALL UTILITIES heat/water/garbage/electricity


Things you SHOULD bring:

    • Hangers
      • All resident's rooms come equipped with wardrobes. Bring hangers to hang as many clothes as you can fit!
    • Fan
      • Pavek, Burgum, Niskanen, Seim, and the Living/Learning Centers (LLC East and West) have air conditioning. For of the rest of the halls you will want to bring a fan.
    • Linens
      • You will want to make sure to buy extra long sheets for your bed. You'll also need any towels or washcloths that you might want.
    • Alarm clock
    • Touchtone phone
      • We provide the service but you will need to bring your own phone and cord.
    • Reading light (not halogen)
    • Surge protector - U.L. approved
    • Adequate renter's insurance
    • White poster putty or 3M removable mounting squares - no nails or tacks
    • Laundry detergent
      • All residence halls have coinless laundry paid for by your hall dues. Be sure to bring detergent and any other supplies you might need to do your laundry!


Things you CAN bring:

    • Computer
      • We have many computer clusters on campus that are available 23 hours a day (All computer clusters are closed for preventative maintenance every night from 2:30 am to 3:30 am). But if you would like you bring your own computer that is okay as well!
    • Plants
    • Small bookcase
    • Refrigerator (4.0 cu ft or less)
    • Microwave (850 watts or less)
    • Favorite single seat chair
    • Large area rug,throw rug or carpet (urethane or jute back- no taping)
    • Small entertainment center
    • TV set and cable cord
    • Electric blanket
    • Coffee maker with automatic shut off


Available to you:

    • Light bulbs
    • Kitchenette
      • Each hall has a kitchenette located in the basement or some other common area. These all include ovens and sinks.
    • Bison Lines long distance card
      • Students receive this card in their campus mail and may use it if they so choose.
    • Cleaning supplies
      • Each residence hall has a trash room where students can find cleaning supplies, garbage bags and places to put their full garbage bags.
    • Toilet paper in restrooms (except the LLC and Niskanen)
    • Washers and Dryers
    • Newspaper service


Things to leave at home:

    • Candles, incense and hot plate/candle warmers
    • Blinds
    • Couch, loveseat and futons
    • Space heaters
    • Halogen lamps (floor or desk)
    • Waterbeds
    • Purchased or home-built lofts
    • Alcohol and alcohol containers of any kind
    • Exercise and weight lifting equipment
    • Pets- except fish in a 10 gallon or less aquarium
    • Hot plates, toasters, breadmakers, or any appliance with an open heating element
    • Wireless Routers
    • Outlet splitters
