Scholarships


The scholarship listed below are available to eligible students in the College of Science and Mathematics.  Based on criteria established by the donors, the recipients of these scholarships are selected by College departments and by the College Nominations and Awards Committee.  Students do not need to apply to the College-wide scholarships with the exception of the Steinhaus-Rhinehart Scholarship (see criteria below; awarded during Spring semester).  Please contact departments for additional information regarding program scholarships (see Departments and Programs).  They may have special application procedures and deadlines.

Fred A. Bristol, Jr. Scholarship: Selection based on GPA

Allan G. Fischer Governor's School Scholarship in Laboratory Science: Award given to entering freshman at NDSU in a program of study in the CSM, with selection based on ACT, GPA and class standing

Allan and Naomi Fischer Scholarship: Award given to a student-athlete enrolled in a major in the CSM

Graduate School Research Award: Award given in recognition of outstanding contributions made to research by a graduate student in the CSM

Graduate School Teaching Award: Award given in recognition of outstanding contributions made to teaching by a graduate student in the CSM who performs significant classroom or laboratory teaching responsibilities

Duane Hinsz in Math Teaching Scholarship: Award given to student whose professional intent is to pursue a Grades 7-12 mathematics teaching career in North Dakota

Harvey Hinsz in Science Teaching Scholarship: Award given to student whose professional intent is to pursue a Grades 7-12 science teaching career in North Dakota

Joyce Gackle-Johnston Scholarship: Scholarship given to students that have attained the academic rank of sophomore or greater with a declared major in mathematics with a GPA of 3.0 or greater

Lucille McMahon/Heggeness Memorial Scholarship: Award given to a student entering their sophomore year with a minimum GPA of 3.6

McCarthy Science Teacher Education Scholarship: Scholarships given to students planning teaching careers, who are enrolled in physical or earth science departments in the CSM

William T. McMahon Memorial Scholarship: Scholarships given to students entering their sophomore year with a minimum GPA of 3.6

Ralph L. Pitman Memorial Award: Award honoring a graduating senior with the highest number of honor points earned at NDSU in the CSM

Steinhaus-Rhinehart Scholarship: Scholarship that assists students entering their senior year in the CSM or Agriculture, majoring in a biological science, who plan to attend graduate school in the area of biological science and plan to do research; applications available during Spring semester in Student Support Services in Ceres Hall
