The U.S. Census Bureau, Population Estimates Program, releases estimates of population figures between censuses. Background, Overview, and Method are discussed on their Methodology page. Additional tables can be found on the program's website.

Because the numbers are continuously revised, it is important to use the most recent population estimates release for comparing multiple years of data.
