1 Chronic Status is determined using the HUD definition, which is an individual with a
disabling condition who has been homeless for at least one year, or four or more times
in the last three years, and is sleeping either in an emergency shelter or somewhere not
fit for human habitation.
2 Long-term homeless (LTH) is the definition adopted by the ND Interagency Council on
Homelessness, which is an individual or a family with a disabling condition who has been
homeless continuously for at least one year or more than four times in the last three
years. The ICH definition does not exclude people who are currently living "doubled up"
with friends/family, people precariously housed in motels or those in transitional housing.
