NDSU STAFF SENATE SMALL GRANT PROGRAM

Staff Development Project Proposal Guidelines
Spring 1997

The NDSU Staff Senate is pleased to announce a NEW OPPORTUNITY for classified staff. All classified staff members are invited to submit proposals requesting funding for staff development activities. There are four types of projects. 1) Individual staff members may apply for up to $300 for mini projects. 2) Individual staff members may apply for grants up to $1,000 to support major projects. 3) Groups of two or more staff members within or across departments or units may apply together for up to $3000 to support department or unit staff development projects. 4) Staff members may apply for up to $3,000 to support projects that benefit staff across the campus.

Funds may be used to support external, in-house, and planning expenses. External expenses may include tuition or fees for classes, seminars, and educational conferences, materials, videos offered by outside vendors, and travel/housing/per them costs associated with training and development. In-house expenses may include fees for outside instructors, materials, orientation expenses, and registration fees. Planning expenses may support needs assessment, consultant fees, and printing.

The proposals will be evaluated on the following criteria. Projects must provide the opportunity for classified staff members to improve their ability to perform their particular job responsibilities, they must define assessment activities that provide helpful feedback to staff regarding anticipated benefits, and they must be written in the format described in the proposal guidelines.

Deadline for proposal submissions: March 17 (3/3, 4/1, 511 for mini projects).

Funding: Funds will be available/upon notification of award. All funds must be spent by June 30,1997.
