Dr. Klenow has been a member of the Department since 1976. In Sociology his primary teaching responsibilities are research methods, sociology of aging, sociology of death and theory. In the Emergency Management program he teaches Sociology of Disaster and Introduction to Emergency Management. Along with Dr. George Youngs he is teaching a course in Disaster Analysis and Homeland Security as part of the Master's in Military Logistics program at the Upper Great Plains Transportation Institute.
Dr. Klenow is also a participating faculty member in the Emergency Management undergraduate and graduate programs. He has conducted National Science Foundation funded field research with Dr. Robert Bolin on tornado disasters and also participated in a Quick Response Grant to study initial responses to tornado disasters
