Billing and Health Insurance Processing Guidelines
Welcome to the NDSU Student Health Service. There is no charge to see the health care provider (physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant). Charges will be generated for:
- laboratory services
- radiology service
- pharmaceutical items
The NDSU Student Health Service does not file insurance claims to any health insurance company for laboratory, radiology and treatment/supply charges. NDSU Student Health Service laboratory, radiology and treatment/supply charges are submitted to the NDSU Bison Connection, Memorial Union, Main Floor, Room 176, for posting to the student's business account. The student is responsible for payment of charges. If charges are not paid, a HOLD may be placed on the student's business account. This HOLD prevents students from registering for classes, as well as receiving their grades, transcripts and degree.
The Student Health Service Pharmacy is able to process pharmacy claims online with most health insurance companies. The remaining co-pay may be paid at the time of service by cash, check or credit card or be billed to the student's account in the Student Financial Services.
Students are responsible for payment to the NDSU Bison Connection, Memorial Union, Main Floor, Room 176, for laboratory, radiology and treatment/supply charges (and pharmacy if applicable) even if a statement of charges is submitted by the student to their health insurance company or processed online by the pharmacy. If the NDSU Student Health Service receives reimbursement for health insurance claims, a credit memo will be issued to the student's business account.
TO FILE A HEALTH INSURANCE CLAIM FOR LABORATORY, RADIOLOGY, TREATMENT AND/OR SUPPLY CHARGES:
The filing of insurance claims for treatment/supply and laboratory or radiology services is the RESPONSIBILITY OF THE STUDENT. The Student Health Service does provide students with itemized statements for filing with their health insurance plans. These are available upon request, usually 10-14 days after the date of service. Contact your health insurance company for specific directions on how to file a claim.
