Registration Checklist
It is very important for student athletes to register correctly and on time in order to get appropriate classes that fit with practice and travel schedules. The checklist below offers an overview of the steps needed to ensure a successful registration.
Before advising week:
- Check Campus Connection for the following:
- Holds of any kind (Campus Personal Information)
- Past due balance (Campus Finances, Account Inquiry)
- Enrollment appointment (Enrollment, Enrollment Dates)
- Make sure you have:
- A copy of your curriculum guide (available from your advisor or from Registration & Records in Ceres 110)
- A copy of NDSU's General Education Requirements
- Check with Kelli Layman if you are concerned about your standing with NCAA eligibility requirements
- Make an appointment to meet with your advisor during advising week
- Your advisor's name and contact information is available on Campus Connection (Academic Records, My Advisors)
Before your advising appointment:
- Fill out your trial card (use pencil)
- Choose classes based on your curriculum guide
- Put together a tentative schedule using Campus Connection
- Make a list of questions for your advisor
- Fill out the parts of the Degree Progress Certification form that you are able (use pencil)
At your advising appointment:
- Review your trial card with your advisor and ask the following questions:
- Do the classes meet requirements for your program?
- Have you taken all of the prerequisites necessary for the courses?
- Are you missing part of a sequence of classes?
- Do the classes meet requirements for your program?
- Finish your Degree Progress Certification form
- Sign the form
- Have your advisor mark which classes will apply towards graduation
- Have your advisor sign the form
- Discuss upcoming concerns with your degree
- Required or recommended internships, research opportunities, student teaching, etc.
- Difficult or time-consuming classes
After your advising appointment:
- Return your completed Degree Progress Certification form to Ceres 211
- Keep your completed trial card for registration purposes
- Check Campus Connection again for any holds & clear up any holds on your account
- Pay any balance due to your account
Registration:
- Be prepared to register at the time of your assigned enrollment appointment
- Contact Kelli Layman (Kelli.Layman@ndsu.edu or 701-231-5781) with any post-registration concerns or questions

- What if the only time I can take a class is during practice?
- What happens if I'm on a waitlist?
- What happens if I can't register for classes yet because I'm not in the program?
