ACE (Academic Collegiate Enhancement) employs undergraduate students for several different positions. Click on any of the position titles to view a full position description.
Assistants are the front line staff at ACE who welcome and direct students to the services they need. Customer-service and professionalism are of great importance in this role. Preference is given to applicants who are eligible for work-study.
Tutors at ACE tutor groups of students and may tutor multiple subjects. Tutors must earn an A or B in any class they tutor, must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0, and must have recommendation(s) from a faculty member in each area they wish to tutor. In addition to being excellent students, tutors must have superb interpersonal and communication skills, be goal-oriented, and must be reliable.
Staff members who have worked at least one semester at ACE are eligible to apply to become a Supervisor. Supervisors ensure that ACE has an academic-focused and productive environment. They also assist to coordinate tutoring and study activities during evening hours. Strong communication skills, role-modeling, and initiative are some important qualities for a successful Supervisor.

TRiO Student Support Services (SSS)
Student Support Services, a program through the TRiO programs, provides academic support to first-generation, income eligible and students with disabilities. Tutors employed by TRiO Student Support Services work 1-on-1 and by appointment with tutees. Our goal is to provide each SSS participant with individualized tutoring that includes assistance with course content, academic success skills while building self-confidence, academic ability, and personal responsibility.
SSS tutors are not only knowledgeable in their specific academic areas, but also highly proficient in the communications skills necessary for truly valuable assistance. While we do require that our tutors have a 3.0 cumulative GPA or above, we are seeking a combination of knowledge, compassion, and a commitment to serve.
The qualifications to become a tutor with TRiO Student Support Services and the application process are the same as those for ACE tutors.
