Funding for Fall 2007 (October 29, 2007)
The Technology Fee Advisory Committee (TFAC) received seven
proposals requesting a total of $155,878 in the 2007 Fall Call for
Proposals on October 1, 2007.
The designated primary reviewer and secondary reviewers of each proposal gave summary statements to the committee regarding the proposal, citing any issues or concerns or general feeling about recommendations for or against funding. After considerable discussion the TFAC recommended the following:

0706 Better Customer Service through
Streamlined Management Software
Counseling Center,
Disability Services requested funds to procure software to help
solve the problems related to securing /storing sensitive
information and reducing the time necessary to document contacts
with clients or potential clients. William Burns $27,500

0707 The Online Fine Arts Listening Library: Providing
Access to Instructional Material through Wireless Streaming
Audio
The Department of Music is asking for funds to
provide continued operations and further development of NDSU's
online Fine Arts Listening Library (FALL). In addition, grant funds
would provide the salary for student workers and purchase three
wireless IPod music devices for use by instructors. Michael

0708 Online Bibliographic Database of Graduate-Level
Research in Music
Funding is being requested by the
Department of Music to offer online access (subscription services)
to two databases (RPIM (Retrospective Index to Music Periodical
Literature) and RISM (International Inventory of Musical Sources.)
These sophisticated bibliographic tools would help carry out
professional-level research and impact the graduate level degree

0709 Innovative Delivery and Access to
Music Notation and Production Software
Producing
published-quality printed music requires specialized computer
software. A grant to fund a 20-seat site license for Sibelius, as
well as an innovative approach to its delivery is being requested

0710 Increasing collaboration, learning and sharing
within Blackboard via Campus Pack tools
Information
Technology Services requested funds to expand the Blackboard
services to incorporate additional learning tools. With these
additional tools, NDSU instructors and students could easily
incorporate social networking and authoring form within the ease

0711 Help Desk Checkout Equipment
Renewal
Funding request outlined in this proposal
includes the cost of replacing outdated laptops, cameras, and
camcorders, that are available at the ITS Help Desk for checkout to
students. Ongoing support for checkout equipment directly supports
the teaching and learning mission of the university. Sheree

0712 Digital Signage and Emergency Alert
Project
This proposal advocates for digital signage
in the NDSU Memorial Union. The signs will provide for a variety of
services - advertising for student organization activities,
departments, or off campus events, CNNS news station, and could
also be part of the campus emergency notification alert program.

0713 Finance and Accounting Data Bases
NOTE: Proposal submitted outside of cycle.
The proposal, submitted by the College of Business seeks
funding to sustain licensing requirements for two heavily used
databases in the areas of finance and accounting. Standard &
Poors Unv. & Government Research Insight Network & CRSP
(Center for Research in Security Prices) data tapes. Ron Johnson,
$ 35,507.70 FUNED with request to seek other
sources next year.
0714 Elsevier ScieneDirect Contract
NOTE: Proposal submitted outside of cycle. The Library
requests funding continue to licensing subscription for a widely
used database. This database falls under the Elsevier ScienceDirect
Contract Mark England, $100,000 FUNDED with
request to seek other sources next year.
