What is Veterans Upward Bound Program?

Veterans Upward Bound Program offers veterans who served their country yesterday a chance to reach out for a better tomorrow. We serve those eligible for education benefits and those not--just be a veteran meeting Department of Education requirements.

Veterans Upward Bound Program provides non-credit course work and support services to help veterans complete high school equivalency (GED) examinations, to prepare for postsecondary education, and to facilitate veterans work mobility and advancement. Appropriate program and school selection is part of the program and veterans can transfer benefits to any accredited school.

Veterans Upward Bound Program can improve veterans' job performance. The "information age" is upon us and veterans who cannot operate a computer are left behind. Superior English, writing, science, reading, study skills, and math skills can make the difference between a job and the unemployment line.

The Program assists with obtaining information on other educational opportunities, academics, advising, financial aid, career counseling, school admissions, work-study jobs, policies, obtaining housing and we also provide referral services to those who desire to further their education.

More specifically, the Veterans Upward Bound Program provides:

GED Program
High school equivalency training for those who lack a high school education.

Refresher Program
Education designed to prepare high school graduates for any type of college, technical or vocational school, or job preparation.

Referral and advising services
Help in selecting an appropriate college, technical or vocational school.

Information on veteran's rights and benefits
Help in obtaining these rights and benefits.
