Help celebrate the birthday of one of our greatest scientists! Charles Darwin, born Feb. 12, 1809 was a naturalist, geologist, explorer, and perhaps the greatest influence on our understanding of life.

You can buy a Darwin Day T-shirt on Tuesday from 9-4 in Stevens 218 or Wednesday/Thursday from 10-2 in the Memorial Union.

This year's festivities include the following:

Wednesday, Feb. 12

  • "Ice-Age Fossils," a talk by Dr. Allan Ashworth (Dept. of Geosciences) at the Fargo Public Library, 7pm

Thursday, Feb. 13

  • Herp Zoo and Frog Call Lounge, Stevens Hall 107, noon-2
  • Hall of Biodiversity, MU Meadowlark Room, noon-4:30
  • "Contagion," the movie, MU Century Theater, 12:30
  • Birthday Cake! in the MU Butte Lounge, 2:30
  • "Darwinian Agriculture: Evolutionary Tradeoffs as Opportunities," keynote speaker, Dr. R. Ford Denison, University of Minnesota, in the MU Century Theater at 3pm

Saturday, Feb. 15

  • Darwins Cabinet of Curiosities, Fargo Public Library, 1-3
