Call for Papers

The main objective of the Proceedings of the Virtual Conference is to establish a prestigious compilation of research advances, discussions and reviews on emerging issues related with genomics and bioinformatics. To attain maximum interaction among the authors and their readers, the 2003 Virtual Conference Proceedings have a more dynamic format than normal publications. Each submitted paper will subject to a stringent double blind review process and accepted manuscripts will published both in paper and electronic forms. However, to develop an advanced flow of information between the reader and authors, the readers are encouraged to submit questions and constructive comments about the paper directly to the author using the Proceedings electronic discussion forum. Using the same system, the author is expected to reply and interact to such enquiries. The hope is that this generated discussion continues for a few months and becomes the motivation for the development of surprising new ideas that will enhance our understanding of biological systems and lead to the development of novel practical and theoretical applications.

The proceedings will cover six main categories: Experimental Research, Statistical and Computational Approaches for the Analysis of Genomic Data, Modeling and Simulation of Biological Systems, Reviews and Letters. We invite you to publish research advances and views using the proceedings template. Submission of a paper implies that it has not been published and is not under consideration for publication elsewhere. If you are interested to present your research as short poster, please the proceedings template. A maximum length of two pages will be considered for publication.Submit your paper or poster to willy_valdivia@orionbiosciences.com.

In order to achieve the maximum exchange of ideas across sub-disciplines, authors are encouraged to take special consideration to the use of terminologies to describe their results. The main idea supporting this approach is that the exchange of information among multidisciplinary and inter-institutional research efforts can lead to new discoveries and query systems that will increase the efficiency of access the sum of current knowledge. It is also the policy of the proceedings that published material will make available additional data for duplication or validation. In this spirit, the Proc. Virtual. Conf. on Gen. and Bioinf. encourage authors to follow the adopted non-restrictive, progressive experimental and data sharing standards in the implementation of their supplementary material.

Topics covered by the 2003 Issue will include:

Biological Knowledge Representation
Biological Data Mining
Evolutionary Genomics
Genomic Data Standardization, Management, and Integration
