History of Awards

I.C.E. Award (Innovation, Collaboration and Excellence)

In 2008 the Vice President for Information Technology created an IT Recognition Committee to specifically develop an IT award to recognize an individual who has resolved an IT challenge through innovative means. The committee created the IT I.C.E. Award, which stands for Innovation, Collaboration and Excellence. This award recognizes an individual who demonstrates "out of the box" thinking, builds positive relationships, and exhibits performance excellence.

Recognition and appreciation are the compliments employees most desire in today’s work environment. Publicly acknowledging colleagues who have demonstrated their professionalism, knowledge, performance, and collaborative connections to enhance the IT organization and help the institution reach its goals is extremely important.

IT Team Award

In 2010, a new IT Team Award was developed. Teamwork is the foundation of how the IT Division operates. To meet many of the organizational goals, we must engage in work that involves many constituents – both internally and externally to the campus. This award focused on the achievement, success, communication, commitment and leadership of an IT Team.

After considerable discussion, the IT Recognition Committee agreed to discontinue the IT Team Award in 2014 due to lack of nominations received over the years. Being able to clearly define the "team" criteria and to communicate what teams existed outside of the traditional work units, has limited scope of nominations.

IT Partner Award

A new award created in December of 2014, is the IT Partner Award. This award provides the IT organization an opportunity to recognize  individuals from the campus community who work closely with us to achieve mutual technology solutions through a strong partnership relationship.  Division IT staff are encouraged to identify external campus constituents who are collaborators, serve as a resource, and are typically an essential part of a campus IT project. This award process is a closed internal process, with only IT staff submitting nominations.

We will recognize all the nominees and honor the campus IT Partner recipient during our annual awards ceremony along with our individual I.C.E. recipient.
