Who: Lindsey Ternes, Major: Criminal justice, Hometown: McIntosh, S.D.

What do you recall from being a new student on campus?

"I remember feeling really overwhelmed being a new student on campus, considering the size of campus was comparable to the size of my entire town. I grew up in a town of about 250 people and graduated with 18. Being a new student was a big adjustment, but I must say I adjusted quite well."

Favorite experiences:

"NDSU going Division I was a huge step, and experiencing the football game vs. the Minnesota Gophers and attending when the men's basketball team made it to March Madness were truly memories I will never forget. I was so proud to be a Bison during those moments. Other favorite experiences would include homecoming festivities, the Fargo/Moorhead community during the Flood of 2009 and 2010, the new and improved Wallman Wellness Center and meeting some of my best friends."

Future plans:

Continuing my internship at the Clay County Department of Corrections as a probation agent. My ultimate goal is to be a federal probation agent.

Groups:

Student Government; Congress of Student Organizations; Arts, Humanities, Social Science Ambassadors; Criminal Justice Club

Advice:

"My advice for incoming freshmen is to GET INVOLVED! There are more than 250 organizations on campus, and even if there is not one that specifically meets your major, there is something definitely for you. You may not think of it now as a freshman, but the day you graduate from this institution you essentially have the same resume as everyone else - set yourself apart from everyone else so the employer will want you."
