The NDSU Content Management System (CMS) provides an easy way for departments to manage and publish Web content. Benefits of the CMS include:

• A clean, professional design
• Templates designed to be accessible to persons with disabilities
• No software to purchase or install
• Ability for a collection of people from your organization to have access to create and update content in cooperation with the option to elect one+ individual(s) to approve content before it is published
• Ongoing training provided by the ITS Training group
• A "CMS User Group" to provide assistance and support for CMS authors

Points to consider when choosing CMS

• CMS is intended general Web content like static Web pages, PDF files, and images
  • If your needs go beyond this basic functionality, you can contact Enterprise Computing & Infrastructure to request other features
• The template, page format and page style choices follow the University Relations design guidelines to ensure a standard, professional look for the site
• The template is designed to be accessible to persons with disabilities

Public Web, or PubWeb, provides hosting services for university departments (business units, operational teams and service lines), Ag Extension and affiliates, individual faculty and staff members, and students organizations with sponsorship of a faculty member.

Accounts are not provided for individual students; however, instructors and work supervisors may request accounts for students to satisfy their NDSU academic or NDSU employment work.

Points to consider in choosing to use PubWeb:

• All NDSU-hosted Web content is required to be accessible to people with disabilities
• Use of PubWeb generally requires specific software (e.g., DreamWeaver) or knowledge of HTML
• Content created by individual users is "uploaded" to the server using a software program (e.g., an sFTP program or DreamWeaver)

Departments and business units with specific business needs that require their own server should work with Enterprise Computing & Infrastructure (ECI) - SLAs to coordinate placement, network connectivity, and addressing.

Installation of custom servers is also coordinated with the NDSU IT Security Officer to ensure the security of data and systems, and compliance with NDSU and North Dakota University System policies.
