GENERAL PROGRAM SUPPORT
Any 4-H Foundation sponsored programming for youth.
Youth learn about animals and how to care for them, and develop skills in animal selection, judging and showing. They can choose from all types of animals and birds including beef, dairy cattle, dairy and meat goats, horses, sheep, swine, poultry, rabbits, cats, dogs and other pets.
CIVIC ENGAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIP
Youth develop leadership and interpersonal skills through civic engagement, community development, service and leadership development opportunities and then use those skills to give back to their communities.
Youth developimportant life skills through communication and public speaking, and by participating in media arts, theatre/performing arts, photography, visual arts, filmmaking or cultural arts.
Youth practice life skills to become a wise consumer and learn to make sound financial decisions related to spending and saving money.
Youth develop their creative side by learning skills, techniques and tools in drawing, painting, sculpting, printing, fiber arts or graphic design.
ENVIRONMENT, OUTDOOR SKILLS AND SHOOTING SPORTS
Youth explore exciting opportunities in the natural world and investigate aquatic life, weather and climate, water quality and conservation, insects and spiders, wildlife and forest ecology, shooting sports and sport fishing.
FOOD, NUTRITION AND HEALTH
Youth pledge to live healthier lives related to nutrition, physical fitness, safety, and social and emotional wellness. They explore health and wellness in their personal lives, home, club, community, country and world.
NORTH DAKOTA 4-H CAMP
Youth are offered the opportunity to experience a unique camp program providing education, outdoor recreation and leadership opportunities. The camp is located along the Missouri River near Washburn.
PLANT, SOIL AND RANGE SCIENCE
Youth investigate plants and the soil they live in, from gardening and crop production to range management.
SCIENCE, ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY
Exploring computer science, robotics, Rube Goldberg, drone technology and other STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) topics helps youth incorporate STEM reasoning into everyday activities and decisions.
Youth work with adults who contribute to 4-H by serving as leaders and mentors. Volunteering in their own community helps 4-H'ers develop an appreciation for the valuable gift volunteers provide.
