Summary

  • Continued mild.  Both the 6-10 and 8-14 day outlooks trend toward warmer than average temperatures
  • Warm temperatures will be little freeze through until perhaps the very end of September or October allowing the corn crop to finish
  • Drought expansion in western North Dakota D1 drought expanded east a bit and D2 expanded in SW North Dakota.
  • Dry areas probably staying mostly dry for the next two weeks.  Odds are that western ND in particular will go into the winter in drought
  • Dry areas may see increased risk of grass fires or fires associated with harvest.
