NDSU Extension Co-hosts 2021 North American Manure Expo

For 18 years, people have been coming together at the North American Manure Expo (Expo) to see the newest in manure equipment and technology, to kick tires and network with others from across the U.S. and Canada. While the 2021 Expo is virtual, the quality of the educational sessions are exceptional, the online tours are comprehensive, and the demonstrations offer even more visual perspectives than possible in person.

This year’s event is on Wednesday, August 25 and Thursday, August 26. If you can’t join the event on those days you should still register as you will have access to the information until December 31, 2021. Registration, the schedule, the show guide and the infamous Top Ten Slogans can all be found at www.manureexpo.ca. This year’s event is approved for 15 CCA-CEUs.

Beginning in 2001, the University of Wisconsin was approached by several custom manure applicators from around the region requesting a show that provides a side-by-side comparison of agitation and application equipment to help determine which best meets individual needs. The first Manure Expo was held near Prairie Du Sac, Wisconsin in August 2001.

The Expo combines 3 attractions into 1 event.

  • Industry trade show.
  • Manure technology demonstrations.
  • Educational events and continuing education.

The first event proved to be a huge success. Due to the proven interest in the show, applicators from Minnesota and Wisconsin asked for a second show. In 2003 the second show was an even bigger success than the first with more than 700 participants. The growing attendance indicated that a need was being met and that expansion was the next step. In an effort to expand impact around the region the decision was made to turn the Manure Expo into a traveling show.

This year, exhibitors will feature their latest technologies and virtually show you how they may fit into your operation. A series of tours will take you through a few Ontario farms, while the educational sessions featuring researchers, farmers and industry will cover many timely topics. Agitation equipment demonstrations, as well as liquid and solid application equipment demonstrations, will allow you to evaluate new equipment features and virtually kick some tires.

Over years of attending the North American Manure Expo, it has become clear that the ideas presented each year lead to new and creative solutions for everything related to nutrient management.
