Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance (TJQMBB) Instructor Training
Tai Ji Quan: Moving for Better Balance is an evidence-based balance training program designed to help adults improve their balance and reduce the risk of falling. Classes meet twice a week for an hour for 12 weeks. Participants are typically older adults living in the community who learn balance skills, postural control and good body alignment through adapted Tai Ji movements. Requirements to Participate in the Leader Training
- Familiarity with Zoom – with audio and video technology to support attending.
- Willingness to offer TJQMBB classes in person or virtually within one year (ideally 3 – 6 months) of successfully completing the training and following all aspects of program fidelity.
- Fitness level to fully participate in two days of very physical, movement-based training.
- Experience working with older adults (ideally leading exercise programs).
- Willingness to complete all assigned pre-work (estimated 1 – 2 hours) and post work practice and preparation for offering classes (initially estimated 20 – 30 minutes per class session).
- Full attendance at and engagement in all components of the training sessions.
Successful completion of both days is required.
August 30 and 31, 2022 8:00-5:00 p.m.
Participants must be available to attend a one-day follow-up Enhanced Training. There are two options:
- September 27, 2022 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. or
- October 26, 2022, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
The customary fee of $375 is waived due to a grant from the ND Department of Human Services, Division of Aging Services.
